Práce Vratislava Varmuži a Gabriely Novákové vybrané pro výstavu v Karviné, se ve více rovinách obracejí k místům, kde oba prožili velkou část svého života. K svébytnému kraji poznamenanému dramaty těžby černého uhlí, nelehkým životem mezi šachtami, haldami, železem, struskou i plochami temných kališť. K jeho drsné kráse často nepochopené a neuchopitelné pro ty, kteří tady nežili, neprožili dny, měsíce, roky. K jazyku, jehož strohost, úsečnost, ale zároveň nezaměnitelná melodičnost se usadí v nitru. Zároveň ale také pohlížejí s okouzlením na sílu a vytrvalost přírody beroucí si zpět místa, která člověk zranil.

The works of Vratislav Varmuža and Gabriela Nováková, selected for the exhibition in Karviná, turn on several levels to the places where they both lived a large part of their lives. To the unique region marked by the dramas of coal mining, the difficult life among the shafts, heaps, iron, slag and the surfaces of dark calendars. To its harsh beauty, often misunderstood and incomprehensible to those who have not lived here, not lived for days, months, years. To the language, whose austerity, brevity, but at the same time unmistakable melodiousness settles in the heart. At the same time, they also look with fascination at the power and persistence of nature taking back the places that man has wounded.
